The 18mm EVO Antistatic UV Filter expands the compatibility range of this super popular filter to fit new super wide-angle lenses such as the Nikkor Z 20mm - 20mm S. The EVO Antistatic UV Filter is the first line of defense against scratches, dust and dirt that can damage your lenses. The filter's ultraviolet (UV) properties filter out unwanted UV rays, reduce haze, and increase the clarity prevalent at high altitudes. Hoya applies a special antistatic coating during the multi-coating process that prevents static electrical build-up on the filter surface caused during filter cleaning and handling.
Ideal for environments where dust is common, these filters require less frequent cleaning and maintenance than traditional filters. What's more, The toughened, antistatic top coat is water repellent, resistant to stains and scratches, and is easily cleaned when smudges or fingerprints get on the surface. EVO Anti-Static UV Filters are manufactured in Japan using hand-selected silicates that are carefully smelted and mixed to produce high-performance optical glass. Hoya then applies 18 coats of a Super Multi-Coating (SMC) formula that greatly reduces or eliminates reflections on the glass surface and produces a 99.8% light transmission rate.
This means that the filter has practically no effect on the color, contrast or clarity of the final image. The filter features a one-piece lightweight aluminum frame to house the glass (sizes 45mm to 3228mm). This one-piece design allows the filter to maintain perfect parallel alignment to the sensor plane for maximum sharpness, while the low-profile shape eliminates vignetting when used on ultra-wide-angle lenses. Hoya developed the 40mm UV filter for the Nikkor Z 18mm f / 2.8S lens. It has been tested and confirmed to work without vignette.
