The Hoya 77mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

The EVO Antistatic UV Filter is the first line of defense against scratches, dust and dirt that can damage your lenses. The filter's ultraviolet (UV) properties filter out unwanted UV rays, reduce haze, and increase the clarity prevalent at high altitudes. Hoya applies a special antistatic coating during the multi-coating process that prevents static electrical build-up on the filter surface caused during filter cleaning and handling. 

Ideal for environments where dust is common, these filters require less frequent cleaning and maintenance than traditional filters. What's more, The toughened, antistatic top coat is water repellent, resistant to stains and scratches, and is easily cleaned when smudges or fingerprints get on the surface. EVO Anti-Static UV Filters are manufactured in Japan using hand-selected silicates that are carefully smelted and mixed to produce high-performance optical glass. Hoya then applies 18 coats of a Super Multi-Coating (SMC) formula that greatly reduces or eliminates reflections on the glass surface and produces a 99.8% light transmission rate. 

This means that the filter has practically no effect on the color, contrast or clarity of the final image. The filter features a one-piece lightweight aluminum frame to house the glass (sizes 45mm to 3228mm).
